  • A mental health OT works similarly to a psychologist.

    They have completed their undergraduate training and have then completed an additional two years of supervised practice in mental health. A mental health OT can see clients under a mental health care plan or eating disorder treatment plan.

  • Whilst you don’t need a referral, you may be eligible to receive Medicare rebates if your GP refers you under a Mental Health Care Plan or an Eating Disorder Treatment Plan. A Mental Health Care Plan provides up to 10 subsidised sessions per calendar year, while an Eating Disorder Treatment Plan provides up to 40 subsidised sessions over a 12 month period.

  • A mental health care plan is a plan created by your regular GP or psychiatrist that allows you to claim up to 10 subsidised sessions with a mental health clinician per year. The initial referral is usually for up to 6 sessions, and most clients need to be reviewed by their referring GP before the full 10 sessions can be used. A mental health care plan does not expire.

  • An eating disorder treatment plan is a plan created by your regular GP or psychiatrist that allows you to claim up to 40 subsidised sessions per year with a mental health clinician who is experienced in and has done additional training around working with clients with eating disorders. A client must be reviewed by their GP every 10 sessions, and must be reviewed by a psychiatrist to access sessions 21 and beyond. An eating disorder treatment plan expires 12 months from the date of referral.

  • Yes, your health fund may cover psychology or occupational therapy. Please note that private health cannot be used at the same time as another payment system (e.g. medicare or NDIS).

  • We know that every person has different sensory needs, and we do our very best to accommodate these needs. We can offer low/minimal lighting options as well as the option for a low scent office space. We have a variety of seating options and can offer telehealth. Please discuss any specific requirements with your clinician and we will do our very best to accommodate.

  • ‘We see clients from our office inside Stirling Business Association in Balcatta, Perth. We also work with lots of clients Australia wide via telehealth.

  • All cancellations/reschedules require 2 business days notice otherwise the full fee may be charged. For example if your appointment is 10am Tuesday, it will need to be cancelled by 10am Friday. We will always work to fill any late cancellations to avoid the client being charged, but sometimes this is not possible.

  • All our clinicians are trauma and eating disorder trained, and have completed training in additional types of therapy, as listed below.

    EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is a mind and body treatment that helps people to heal from trauma and distressing life experiences by processing difficult memories, reducing their emotional impact.

    DBT - DBT focuses on building practical skills to help manage intense emotions, cope with distress, and improve relationships. It is especially helpful for people who feel overwhelmed by emotions or stuck in unhelpful patterns.

    CBT-E - CBT-E is a structured, evidence-based therapy specifically designed to support people experiencing eating disorders. It helps individuals understand and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours around food, eating, body image, and self-worth.

    Schema - Schema Therapy helps people understand long-standing patterns that developed earlier in life and continue to impact emotions, relationships, and self-belief. It supports change by increasing self-compassion and meeting emotional needs in healthier ways.
